ionCube was founded in 2002 and introduced tools to prevent the source code of software written using the PHP programming language from being viewed, changed, and run on unlicensed computers.

Mediagration developed the world's first online licensing tool for ionCube, that permits users to create software licenses, on the fly, for PHP application files encrypted with ionCube's encoder. 

Here is how it works:

Code owner encrypts php script or scripts, setting up the level of obfuscation, associated domain name, and length of license. 
2. PHP scaipts are uploaded in the Product Creator.
3. Customer inserts their domain name into the text box
4. Customer purchases the encrypted application
5. Customer downloads the archived application from "My Downloads" page 
6. Customer decompresses the archive
7. Customer will find the license file and the application in the downloaded archive packge
8. Customer uploads requirerd loaders to their serve
9. Customer uplaods the license file to their server
10. Downloaded application will now run on their server
